    Okay, we're in India now

    Friday, February 24, 2006, 03:15 PM [General]

I haven't posted in a whole week because it's just been too busy around here..India is lots of fun and we're learning about the difference between Thai curry and Indian curry, and that's important. I'm also trying to find a way to get to Greece without visiting the war on Iraq.

In other news, I haven't watched any of the Olympics and I've played tons of soccer. No, I haven't been to Calcutta, as I was instructed by my 7th grade geography teacher NEVER to go there...he'd been there 7 times.

I'll put up pictures soon! In the meantime, it's 3am and I'm going to sleep now.

    We're here!

We made it to Sri Lanka just in time to catch some awesome waves. I'd say TJ would have been so jealous, but she can't surf, not that she's not allowed to, but she just can't. At all.

I took some cool waves and made Devon take pictures of my awesome surfing. Then we went for a walk and met a monkey. I like islands that have their own monkeys.

Sri Lanka is another one of the places on my list of "Islands I thought were made up in novels." It's been a blast the first few hours, and we're meeting TJ later on today (which will be last night for her...time travel is so difficult, I'm starting to understand the movie "Primers" not "Prime")

I'm off to eat more curry now...they curry freakin everything here...for breakfast, it's Curri-o's, for lunch, it's spaghcurry-o's and for dinner, probably some tequila and pretzels since I'm already sick of curry.

    ThailandThere's Thailland ---------------------------------->

It isn't all about Claire Danes in prison.  Once you stop making Phuket jokes, it's actually a very pretty and unique place.

We're on our way to India now - well, we'll first stop in Sri Lanka, where we'll meet TJ...silly girl was going to puddle jump from Sri Lanka to India just to meet us when we're docking in Sri Lanka anyway.

So, after India is where it gets sketchy...originally, we were going to head to Yemen, then right through Egypt to Greece, but ACK! IRAQ! So we're thinking of giving up our day jobs forever and going all the way around Africa. But I'm thinking that's kind of out of the question...so anyone know if any airliners let you check in yachts to baggage claim? I'm guessing it would be too big for carry on.

    Thailand has no Internet connections!

    Wednesday, February 8, 2006, 02:00 PM [General]

    HI!!

Thailand has been a very different experience...everything is pretty inexpensive and we've been running ourselves ragged trying to join in on everything before we have to leave - we need to get to India in a weekish to meet up with TJ.

Our Internet connection is kind of on and off here, so I haven't been able to download my cool Thai pictures.  I'll try to get them on soon.

In other news, TJ landed a job on Animal Planet as a stuntperson for the show, Chasing Nature, and her first job location after we finish our tour of course is in HAWAII...about a foot away from my home. So I've foolishly invited her to crash at my place instead of the Kona hotel a million miles away. She's bringing her crazy swimming cat too.

And now I have to explain to Chau why we don't wash the deck with Pledge furniture polish.

    Thai Motivational Speakers

It takes forever to get to Thailand! It's like when you're in traffic, and you have to pee and you get stuck behind a Buick that you know has no hope of reaching speeds past 35 miles per hour.

We should have been in port by now, but we're not so fast when there's only three of us...I think TJ is the best at actually working this thing...I'm more into not getting hit by pirates. Speaking of which, there were pirates exactly where we cruised through last night (okay, they were closer to the Ombai Strait). They bothered a few local patrolmen and got arrested or shot or something. One pirate boat down!

It's around 1am now, and we hope to make it into Thailand by 5...that is, if someone can stay awake to keep us on course...you tend to miss insomniacs when they go away.

But I did learn three new words in Thai - Chau's cousin couldn't find any language tapes to give me, so she gave me a tape of a motivational speech in Thai. Now, my Thai is a little rusty, but I think this guy is trying to get me into a pyramid scheme!
